Nye County Dealing with West Nile Virus
The Nevada State Department of Agriculture has confirmed equestrian deaths related to West Nile Virus in Nye County. We also have one confirmed case of a human that has contracted the virus.
This is a reminder to citizens with horses that West Nile Virus can be fatal if contracted in the equestrian population. Horses can be vaccinated for West Nile Virus to prevent illness and death. The initial series is two shots approximately 30 days apart and then an annual booster. Consult your veterinarian for specific information.
