Nye County Comprehensive Master Plan

2011 Nye County Comprehensive Plan - ADOPTED

The Nye County Comprehensive/ Master Plan, also known as the “Master Plan”, “the Plan” or the “Comp. Plan.”, consists of two parts: The Comprehensive Plan map, and the Goals, Objectives, and Policies portion of the Comprehensive Plan which presents relevant background information and goals, objectives, and policies for a series of topics or elements addressed within the Plan.

The 1994 Comprehensive Plan had been developed by the Nye County Board of Commissioners (Board), and reviewed by Nye County residents during the fall of 1992 and 1993. At the May 3, 1994 Board meeting, the Board voted to adopt the Nye County Comprehensive Plan as the County's Master Plan under the provisions of NRS 278.150.

On April 21, 2009 the Board directed staff to initiate the process of updating the Comprehensive Plan the result being the 2011 Nye County Comprehensive/ Master Plan. The scope of the work has been to update only those dated portions of the Plan while preserving the philosophy and structure of a plan just as applicable today as it was 15 years ago.

The purpose of the updated Nye County Comprehensive/Master Plan is to guide the county's growth, management of natural resources, provision of public services and facilities and to ensure protection of the public, health, safety and welfare. This is accomplished by establishing goals and objectives that address county wide issues. This plan excludes the private properties in Nye County.
