What to Expect at this Hearing -  At this first hearing, the Judge will ask you questions about your citation such as, if you have a copy of your citation, if your name is spelled correctly, if you understand what the charge(s) on your citation are (not if you agree with them, but if you understand them), and if you are ready to enter a plea.   You may enter one of three pleas:  guilty, no contest and not guilty.

If you plan to enter a not guilty plea, you may do that prior to your appearance date.  You will need to send the bail amount along with a letter informing the court that you wish to plead not guilty. Once received, the Court will mail paperwork for you to sign and return and a pre-trial date will be set. The bail money will be held until after your trial and the Court’s decision.

Community Service & Payment Plans -

If you would like to perform community service in lieu of payment or request a payment plan, you must request this from the Court on or before your scheduled hearing date.  Please call or email the Court at tjc@nyecountynv.gov for more information.
