[ARCHIVED] County and Towns government offices closed Monday for the Juneteenth observance

In observance of Juneteenth, Nye County and Towns government offices and courts will be closed Monday, June 19th.

Emergency service administrative offices will be closed, but field operations will continue as normal.

Juneteenth honors the date when on June 19, 1865, the Union Army arrived in Galveston, Texas, and announced the end of the Civil War and the end of slavery. The observance was made a federal holiday in 2021, and a state holiday by the Nevada Legislature this year.

Gov. Joe Lombardo signed Assembly Bill 140 into law on June 8th.

Additionally, the next regular meeting of the Board of County Commission meeting will be held Tuesday, June 27th, in Pahrump.
