[ARCHIVED] Public Hearing on CDBG Applications on Sept. 4th

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING FOR DISCUSSION OF POSSIBLE STATE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT APPLICATIONS 

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Nye County Board of Commissioners will conduct a public hearing in order to discuss possible applications for funding under the next fiscal year's (July 1, 2024, to June 30, 2025) State Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program and to solicit citizen input on possible activities to be included in the application. It is estimated that approximately $3,000,000 will be available in total. The Public Hearing will be held in conjunction with the regularly scheduled Board of County Commissioners meeting on: 

September 4, 2024 at 10:00 am
101 Radar Road, Tonopah NV 89049 or
2100 E. Walt Williams Drive, Pahrump NV 89048.

ELIGIBLE ACTIVITIES UNDER THE ABOVE ALLOCATION CONSIST OF PUBLIC FACILITY AND PUBLIC IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS, PUBLIC SERVICE PROGRAMS, PLANNING STUDIES, ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT BUSINESS ASSISTANCE, AND MICROENTERPRISE ACTIVITIES. ELIGIBLE ACTIVITIES PAID FOR WITH THE STATE CDBG FUNDS MUST MEET ONE OR MORE OF THE THREE NATIONAL OBJECTIVES LISTED IN CDBG FEDERAL STATUTES AS FOLLOWS: BENEFIT TO LOW-INCOME HOUSEHOLDS OR PERSONS; ELIMINATION OF SLUMS AND BLIGHT; OR MEETING URGENT COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT NEEDS. 

The purpose of this public hearing is to give citizens an opportunity to discuss proposed projects submitted to date and to suggest further ideas. Proposed projects and estimated funding are listed below. Only projects listed here and proposed at the September 4, 2024, meeting will be forwarded to the Nye County Commission for approval. 

A final hearing will be held to discuss, approve, and rank applications prior to submittal to the State.
