Commissioner Debra Strickland was unanimously elected chair of the Board of County Commissioners for 2021. She served as vice-chair since taking office in 2019.
Commissioner Frank Carbone was unanimously elected vice-chair for 2021. Carbone, who previously served on the board from 2012-2016, was the chair in 2016 and vice-chair in 2015.
Nye County Sheriff Sharon Wehrly was selected to chair the County Licensing and Liquor Board, and Strickland was elected as vice-chair.
Commissioner Leo Blundo was re-elected as chair of the Board of Highway Commissioners, and newly appointed Commissioner Bruce Jabbour was elected as vice-chair.
This was the first Board of County Commissioners meeting of the year, and the first for Carbone and Jabbour.
