[ARCHIVED] Pahrump JP, County Treasurer, and 2 Public Defenders appointed by Commissioners

The Board of County Commissioners made a series of appointments on Tuesday to fill open elected offices and two public defenders.

Chief Deputy District Attorney Kirk Vitto was unanimously appointed Justice of the Peace, Department A, from a list of seven applicants. He will serve the remainder of the term ending January 2025. The position became open with the resignation of Lisa Chamlee on June 6, 2022.

Also, Chief Deputy Treasurer Raelyn Powers was appointed County Treasurer for the unexpired term ending January 2023. Powers, who won the Republican primary for Treasurer in June, will be unopposed on the November ballot and will start the four-year term in January. She takes over for interim County Treasurer Mark Kampf, who was appointed in April.

The Commissioners also filled two vacant Public Defender Services contracts with the appointments of attorneys Andrew Fritz and Andrew Coates. Both contracts run through June 30, 2023.
