[ARCHIVED] National Work Zone Awareness Week is April 15-19

Scheduled Public Works projects for the week of April 15th.
*All projects are weather and material-dependent. 

Pahrump:
Durapatching is on the northwest side of Pahrump.
Ditch work on Basin Avenue. 
Stockpiling chips for upcoming chip seal projects. 

Central:
Repairing low water crossing in Beatty on Airport Road and 2nd Street.

Tonopah:
Gravel road maintenance. 
Repairing a low water crossing in Smoky Valley. 

Please submit Road Maintenance Requests online.

National Work Zone Awareness Week is April 15-19.

Nye County, Nevada Department of Transportation and other partners place work zone signage, reduced speed limits, temporary rumble strips, and safety barriers, electronic radar speed signs, overhead lighting, and more to enhance the visibility and safety of road work zones. 
Fines can be doubled for speeding in marked work zones when workers are present.
The Federal Highway Administration sponsors National Work Zone Awareness Week to raise awareness of motorist and worker safety and mobility in work zones. 

REMINDER: Nevada Revised Statute 484.3667 doubles the penalty for speeding, up to $1,000, in any marked road construction or maintenance work zone when workers are present. According to the Nevada Department of Transportation, work zone crashes claim three lives daily.
