On Monday, January 6th, the County Clerk Cori Freidhof swore in the newly elected commissioners Ian Bayne and John Koenig, and re-elected Commissioner Bruce Jabbour.
Bayne was elected in November for Commission District 3, replacing Donna Cox, who served three terms.
Koenig previously served District 2 from 2016-2020 and was elected again in 2024 when sitting Commissioner Frank Carbone did not seek a third term.
Jabbour was appointed to the vacant District 1 seat in 2020, elected in 2022, and re-elected in November.
Appointments for County Commission positions
Commissioner Ron Boskovich has been named the new chair of the Board of County Commissioners for 2025, during their regular meeting on Monday, January 6th. Boskovich, who served as vice-chair last year, was elected by a unanimous vote,
Commissioner Debra Strickland, the chair last year, was selected as vice-chair.
Commissioner Bruce Jabbour was selected as chair of the Board of Highway Commissioners, and newly elected Commissioner John Koenig was elected vice-chair.
Nye County Sheriff Joe McGill was re-appointed to chair the County Licensing and Liquor Board, and newly elected Commissioner Ian Bayne was selected as vice-chair.
All appointments are for one year.
