Starting Saturday, September 27, 2025, Nye County residents who self-haul their yard waste to a county landfill can dispose of it free of charge every Saturday. This program was approved by Board of County Commissioners to reduce landfill costs for residents.
Accepted yard waste includes grass and clippings, leaves and house or garden plants, tree trimmings and branches, and bushes, shrubs, and associated clippings. This waiver applies only to residents hauling their own waste. Landscapers and commercial haulers will continue to be charged the regular tipping fee.
The County Landfills are:
- Pahrump Landfill, 1631 E. Mesquite Avenue, open daily from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., closed on New Year's Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.
- Round Mountain Landfill, 800 Dump Road, open Wednesday through Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., closed on all federal holidays and Nevada Day observance.
